Nous tenions à vous remercier pour l'excellent accueil du 26 octobre. Ariane et Claude ont séjourné une nuit chez Andy et Julie A Michouat dans une chambre ancienne rénovée à la perfection, la salle de bain est spacieuse et moderne à la fois et de très bon goût, le petit déjeuner est copieux et de qualité, les propriétaires sont charmants et accueillants. Une note de 5/5 est méritée.

Great Stay and a Vegan Feast!

I stayed at ‘Michouat’ recently with my family. Two of my children are vegan so eating out in France was always going to be difficult. So we asked for Table d’Hote on arrival with special request agreed with the owners for a full vegan menu. After a long days travelling we were greeted with unparalleled comfort and consideration.  Jules and Andy then served us with an absolute feast that delighted the vegans and non vegans alike. The produce used came mostly from their own garden and was cooked and combined to perfection. We enjoyed polenta squares with tapenade, endive cups with a melange of nuts and fruit, home grown crudites and dips, home cured pickles, a sublimely spiced squash curry with scented rice and salted caramel apples with home made coconut ice cream. I can’t tell you how good this was, to not have cooked or had to travel out in the car, to be waited on knowing that most of what you were eating was grown only a few metres away. I highly recommend ‘Michouat’. The accommodation is superb. The hosts have great attention to detail and huge consideration and willingness to go the extra mile for their visitor’s needs.  This visit was a real treat for us all.

La plus belle expérience en chambre d’hôtes! Andy et Julie sont de très belles personnes qui ont absolument tout fait pour nous faire sentir comme à la maison et nous accueillir avec beaucoup de gentillesse et de petites attentions adorables. Discrets, ils se sont sans cesse assurés que nous étions bien et détendus. Les tables d’hôtes: repas incroyablement délicieux et service parfait ! Excellent petit déjeuner. Chambre et SDB très propres et aménagées avec gout. Bref, tout était magique. Nous repartons le cœur rempli de joie d’avoir pu passer un séjour à Michouat.

We knew we’d have a lovely stay.

From the first step we took on Andy and Julia’s driveway we knew we’d have a lovely stay. As we were travelling from the Basques heading to Toulouse we just needed somewhere to spend the night and rest. What we found was so much more and we were sad we could only stay for one night. The rooms! The breakfast! A pool and the calm area! We recommend anyone who is travelling in the region or is considering to not to pass up on this place. Andy, Julie, their dogs and cat will surely be seeing more of us some day.

Wir fuhren mit dem Fahrrad durch die Gegend und buchten das einzige Gästehaus in der Nähe unseres Standortes. Es war eine angenehme Überraschung für uns alle. Wie wir erfuhren, sollte der Ort für eine weitere Woche nicht verfügbar sein. Es war also ein sehr unerwarteter Besuch, aber das war Julie und Andy egal. Sie haben großartige Arbeit geleistet, sodass wir uns von Anfang an wohl gefühlt haben. Es fühlte sich mehr nach einem Treffen mit Freunden der Familie an, als nach einem Aufenthalt in einem Gästehaus. Das haben wir sehr geschätzt. Das Zimmer war sauber, alles ist neu im nostalgischen Stil. Das Badezimmer ist neu und sieht einfach toll aus. Eine heiße Dusche half dabei, einen ganzen Tag mit dem Fahrrad zu verbringen. Für den Abend luden Julie und Andy uns zu einem schönen Abendessen mit Wein, Käse und Würstchen ein. Wir haben einen tollen Abend verbracht und auch gut geschlafen. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und hatte alles, was wir uns wünschen konnten. Julie und Andy fragten uns auch, ob wir etwas zum Frühstück hätten. Das ist ein schönes kleines Detail. Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt und das alles zu erleben, obwohl wir nicht vorbereitet waren, machte es noch besser. Viel Erfolg und zufriedene Kunden!

Had a fantastic time here with my family this summer

Had a fantastic time here with my family this summer, plenty of room for a family of four and all the facilities you could need. Really peaceful area which allows you to fully recharge your batteries, but not to sleepy as there are plenty of restaurants and shops in a quick drive. Andy and Julia were fantastic hosts and were available if required, but gave us plenty of privacy and it almost felt like our own home. Great base if you like cycling as the Pyrenees are within touching distance and you can climb some of the most iconic Cols in Tour de France history. Will definitely be booking again as the whole family can’t stop talking about it.

We stayed at Le Michouat for 12 nights in August 2018. Situated about an 50 mins from the mountains it offers a good blend of peaceful living with easy access to the towns and villages of the mountains. This provides lots of opportunities to explore great views, restaurants and do plenty of activities, such as rafting and kayaking. There are also some great caves in which you can do organised tours. We visited the Grottes de Bétharram caves which were fascinating and great fun. The Balnea Spa is fabulous to relax in with hot water (ranging from 33 - 40 degrees) areas outside in the mountains which is really beautiful.  The gite was very clean and well presented. It is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool was also extremely clean and was attended to early in the mornings by Andy. There are good views from the pool of the mountains and plenty of comfortable pool side seating. There is English Freesat TV available in the gite for those that want it and Internet access is available. A new hot tub will be installed very soon although it was not set up during our stay. There is a table tennis table and Jules & Andy have provided plenty of games to keep kids busy in the evenings should you need it. For relaxing there is a huge hammock although we didn’t really use it. We did use the supplied barbecue though which was a good size & quality to supply guests. Jules and Andy are great hosts providing just the right blend of being there if you need them and leaving you to enjoy the pool and relaxing surroundings in peace. As we were flying in late on a Sunday night Jules called us a few days before and asked us if we wanted her to get some shopping in for when we arrived as many shops in France close Sunday & Monday. I was very grateful for this and sent her a list all of which was duly located in the fridge along with some welcome wine! How nice was that??!! They have clearly made every effort to ensure your stay is enjoyable and little touches such as supplying good quality plastic “glasses” for you to use by the pool were greatly appreciated. Julie’s cakes were also greatly appreciated!! During our stay there was a Man Utd game on and as soon as Andy found out that both my young boys support them, we were invited in to watch the match and have some drinks, which ended up being a really fun evening. Again they showed their hosting skills supplying said food and drinks, even though we took our own! We cannot thank Jules and Andy enough for making us feel welcome and helping to ensure we had a great time. We would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here. You won’t regret it!!!

We stayed with Andy and Julie in May. They were perfect hosts in every way. The pool was cleaned daily. We had beautiful views of the Pyrenees. Everywhere was within easy reach, all less than an hour away. We will definitely come back !!!
